Survival With A Mind
For those looking for one of love's activists, Asaan Harazshi Brooks, also known as S.W.A.M.burger. unleashes rational thought and focus towards the 9-5 mindstate, advising through both the pencil and the stage that unity is key. "If unconditional love is not enough, then let's break the programs," he explains. S.W.A.M.burger is a name amongst few but carries a message to all.
Before linking up with the Sol.Illaquists of Sound in 2001 to spread his word, S.W.A.M. did most of his recording with Orlando's very own DJ BMF. Together they recorded a track called Survival With A Mind (S.W.A.M.), which would later receive airplay on URB Magazine's 2000 compilation CD. Given the green light on the project and with positive feedback in hand, S.W.A.M. continued with BMF, showing up again on BMF's "Steel Contraption," a Hip-Hop single put out by 8th Dimension and distributed by Caroline Distribution. In March of 2000, S.W.A.M. was featured with another artist by the name of Beef Wellington. What started as a small conversation turned into International Recognition. Two albums were made locally and numerous songs from the two are in MTV's rotation of shows like Real World, Road Rules, Making the Video and others. Shortly after, S.W.A.M. and Beef landed the intro song on the EASports video game John Madden 2002, and their beats and rhymes can now also be heard on Madden 2003. Their successes lead to a third album, which was a combination of the previous two.
With S.W.A.M. now proving to be a legitimate and potentially groundbreaking artist, 8th Dimension gave S.W.A.M. his first solo album. The first single is called '9-5 Portrait.' This timing was in perfect tune with Swamburger's newfound friends and musical project, the Sol.Illaquists of Sound, a vessel that now helps him continue on his message of life to eager audiences around the nation. Today he is still doing what many only speak of, living his dream.
